Quick change of alarm sounds aka Talking FLASH Siren. RESTYLING 5
Good day DRIVEchane). Here is a review of the possibilities of the FLASH SIREN I made. Purpose of this device, to change the standard beeping and the same sound, the same in all the siren, on their own unique sounds, thus provide, to personalize your car.)
What she can do. Her technical parameters and design merits. FLASH SIRENA has 4 MULTI PRO channels (ALARM, BIBIKA, CH1, CH2). Each MULTI PRO channel is provided with voltage stabilization (input voltage 4-18v.), has an intelligent algorithm “FLOATING TRIGGER” and is equipped with bounce protection. All this allows to supply control signals to the inputs, as from the output of the alarm system and from a conventional button. Moreover, each press of a button triggers a separate event with a separate sound for it! Each channel is capable of decoding 10 pulses (inclusive), plus a constant level. Thus, 4 MULTI PRO channels are capable of handling 55 events with a separate sound for each event (55 events, 55 sounds). Any sounds or speech messages can be set. The volume of each message is adjustable. All sounds, are WAV files (Windows PCM) 8/16 bit, mono/stereo, sampling rate up to 48 kHz. which are on SD/MicroSD card.
No wires are needed to replace the sounds and no disassembly of the case is required! The card is in an easily accessible location, allowing you to change the sounds by simply swapping them on the SD/MicroSD card, or changing the card itself. Supports SD/MicroSD card of any size and manufacturer (FAT16/FAT32 supported). Using a MicroSD card allows you to change the sounds on an ordinary phone, smartphone, tablet, laptop or home PC.
If there is no SD/MicroSD card in the slot, FLASH SIRENA works as a regular multitone. All sounds of the regular alarm system (beeping and the multitone siren itself) are embedded in the controller itself at the firmware level, and do not need to be played in the presence of microSD card in the slot. Thus, without FLASH card the siren is fully functional and its operation and sounds are completely the same as the regular one. If we insert a FLASH card into the slot, then the sounds are taken from the card and replace the regular ones from the firmware. This is very convenient (for example if you removed the card to replace the sounds on the PC.) No need to worry that there will be no sounds in the absence of SD/MicroSD. THE CAR IS ALWAYS GUARDED! In FLASH SIRENe used powerful, industrial bass amplifier brand PHILIPS it has short circuit protection in the load, temperature protection, and has an output power of 22W. Regular sirens have a power of 15W. and less.
The standby current is 0 mA! This result was achieved by applying an electronic power switch, which completely disconnects power from the board, the LF amplifier, SD/MicroSD during idle time. Therefore, when FLASH SIRENA is silent, the amplifier, SD/MicroSD, the controller and the board itself are completely disconnected from the car power supply and do not consume any current at all!
Thanks to the “Floating Trigger” algorithm FLASH SIRENA needs no adjustment! It is suitable for all types of car alarm systems. The device has protection against overcurrent, it allows you not to worry about the possibility of mixing up the wires during installation. Incorrect connection is not possible to harm both FLASH SIREN and the car.
COMMENT TO THE PHOTO: The circuit board is very simple and you can make it yourself without any problems. Each board is wired with ROSE alloy, after assembling the parts, it is covered with three layers of special protective varnish for boards.
PHOTO COMMENT: I updated my Test kolokol software to version 2.0b, and now it works with the new 8-channel Bluetooth switch. Bluetooth switch, made on the basis of Chinese Bluetooth module HC-05 and Attiny2313 controller. Thus, the program Test kolokol version 2.0b supports 8 channels and works both on RS232, USBCOM (virtual com port), and via Bluetooth technology.
Let’s look in detail how each channel of the FLASH SIREN works. ALARM (MULTI PRO alarm channel), Allows decoding of 10 pulses (inclusive) from the alarm, plus constant level. This allows you to replace operational alarm sounds such as: * Sound of arming the alarm. * Sound of disarming the alarm system. * Sound of arming if a door, hood or trunk is open (if any of the sensors is active when arming, there is a separate event with a separate sound for it). * Sound of disarming, there was a siren actuation (if in your absence, there was an attempt to break into the car, which caused activation of the siren, then when disarming, there is a separate event with a separate sound for it). * Sound of the shock sensor (shock sensor). * Siren sound (panic mode). * Sound of car search * Sounds of 7, 8, 9, 10 pulse events (if the alarm system supports extended pulse events, you can also replace the sounds of these events, for each event a separate sound).
The ALARM channel simultaneously supports 2 packs with sounds. It works like this: There are two folders with sounds (ALARM1 and ALARM2) on SD/MicroSD simultaneously. Switching between these sound folders is done by pressing the button. That is, let’s say we have installed sounds of events, sound of arming, sound of disarming, sound of arming if door, hood or trunk is open, sound of disarming, siren was triggered, sound of shock sensor, siren sound, sound of car search and we need to replace them all, then simply by pressing button on channel expansion board, sound pack changes and now we have all sounds different, even without changing sounds on SD/MicroSD card itself. In this implementation, there is support for 2 ALARM channel packs, (you can make at least 10))).
BIBIKA, CH1, CH2 (additional MULTI PRO channels), Three additional, independent of the alarm MULTI PRO channels allow you to change not only the sounds of the alarm system, but also completely change the sound scene of the car, thereby distinguish yourself and your car from the stream). All three channels have an algorithm “FLOATING TRIGGER” and are equipped with anti-rattle contacts. All three channels “understand the button”. Once pressed, one sound. Two times pressed, another sound, etc. Each of the additional channels is capable of handling 10 pulses (inclusive), plus a constant level. For each pulse, its own, separate sound.
Example of use. The BIBIKA channel was used in previous versions of the project to replace the regular horn. A short press would cause a short press sound, which would be played in its entirety. A long press played a long press, which played as long as the level was present. It is now possible to change the number of times the button is pressed to change the sound being played.
With additional channels, it is possible to sound for example, such events as: Moving the car in reverse. Remote opening of the trunk. Remote engine start. Sound of the starter, with remote start, or any other events.
You can connect to additional MULTI PRO channels, the expansion card channels. Thus obtain a single MULTI PRO channel, 10 separate, independent channels. Three MULTI PRO channels allow you to expand the number of inputs, up to 30pcs!
COMMENT TO THE PHOTO: Since version 5 of the RESTYLING project, support for pulse decoding of additional MULTI PRO channels has been implemented. Together with the algorithm “FLOATING TRIGGER”, it gives an opportunity to process each such pulse as a separate event with a separate sound for it. If for BIBIKI it is still acceptable to press button two, three times for playing necessary sound, then it is not acceptable to press 4-10 times (and count how many times you pressed the button). In this version, the decoding of 10 (inclusive) pulses is implemented. In general, any number of pulses can be decrypted. Originally I wanted to decode 50 pulses per channel, but then I decided that 10 pulses per channel would be enough. To implement the idea, I made the simplest board, the expansion board for the channels. The purpose of the channel expansion board is to convert the input level on one of the inputs into a sequence of pulses on the output. The function of the channel expansion board is as follows (for the circuit in the picture): Suppose that logic level 0 was fixed at the input of controller 8 (a button was pressed or a sensor went off), then a series of 8 pulses appeared at the output of controller 4, this was fixed by FLASH SIRENA and it played the corresponding sound. Due to the fact that each MULTI PRO channel has an algorithm “FLOATING TRIGGER”, the length of such pulses, can be any and different. With a pulse length and pause of 1ms. 10 pulses will give a delay of only 20ms (1sec=1000ms), which is negligible! Thus it is possible to expand one MULTI PRO channel, up to 10 units. Also, with the help of a channel expansion board, you can send service pulses. With the help of service pulses, you can change the sound packs of ALARM channel, as described above. The expansion board can be built on any type of controller, the hardware requirements for the controller are minimal (this is not critical), even on Tiny, Mega or PIC.

Catalogs on microSD card and file names:
COMMENT TO THE PHOTO: Create in the ROOT (root) of the SD/MicroSD card 6 folders with the names, ALARM1, ALARM2, BIBIKA, CH1, CH2, SETTING. Each of the folders, for its own channel, the folder name corresponds to the name of the channel for which it is intended. Folder SETTING, for sounds, changes of ALARM channel packs. These folders must contain sounds, WAV files of Windows PCM 8/16 bit, mono/stereo format, sampling rate up to 48 kHz. The files with names 1.WAV-10.WAV, are intended to replace pulses 1-10pcs of the corresponding channels. Files with names (e.g. ALARM1.WAV or BIBIKA.WAV) are intended, to replace the constant level sounds, of the corresponding channels.
Setting your own melody to the car alarm
It can be a favorite song or any other sound you like. Setting your own sound to your car alarm can be a pretty fun idea as well as a very useful one.
90’s . Those people who remember well the period from now until the 2000s have not forgotten the many frequent car alarms that went off. Because of the proliferation of crime, the demand for car alarms increased, and it was already much harder to determine whose car was the source of the alarm, as all were making almost identical noises. There was an immediate response from car security alarm companies, who began producing products with a variety of alarm sounds. When the criminal situation became somewhat calmer, the fashion for oversensitive car alarm systems also began to recede into the past, and the city streets became much quieter.
Modern options and the first appearance of the new system. Despite the fact that most car alarm systems include a system of silent notification of the owner, the sound device still does not lose its meaning, as it is able to attract attention. But if a car with a standard alarm sound may not pay attention, it is guaranteed to attract an unusual melody, sounding from under the hood. Yes, and car thieves themselves will not be as comfortable digging around in the cabin to start the motor. But not all car owners install such systems with a practical purpose, for them it is a kind of fun and creativity of a technical nature.
The first idea to make it possible to change the “voice” of the alarm system was born on the forums of foreign countries, where some amateurs offered options on how it can be implemented, and even going to produce such devices for sale. But they did not enjoy great popularity because of the technical complexity and high price. The second moment of birth for it was the famous site “Aliexpress”, where a large number of ready-made devices are sold, which allowed car owners, at least a little able to use a soldering iron and distinguish plus from minus, to equip your car personal melody, played when the alarm is triggered, or when you press the car search button on the key fob.
Replacing the standard signal with a musical one. “Bell” siren of the car alarm system looks like a standard speaker, installed with a coil winding resistance of 4-8 ohms. To start sounding such a speaker requires generation of a characteristic alarm signal, its amplification and supply exactly to this speaker. The generator and amplifier are located in the inner part of the “bell”, and the two wires, black and red, that come out of it, provide power. When 12V voltage is applied, the generator is triggered, the sound is amplified and a beeping sound is heard, which is silenced when the power is turned off. To control its supply requires a special unit, oriented on the signals produced by sensors of impact, tilt, attempted burglary of the door or glass breaking. To provide the desired signal, an MP3 player with an amplifier is assembled in a separate box, and then it is connected to the speaker and the regular power is supplied to it. The easiest way to cope with this work will be electronics and radio amateurs.
To make the sound of such a system go uninterrupted, it should be recorded to a flash card with several files numbered 001, 002, 003, etc. To represent such sound should be a single-voice ringtone of the phone, because the speaker can play only high, and partially middle frequencies.
