Replacing the horn on a Volkswagen Polo sedan

Adult beeper or horn replacement! – Volkswagen Polo Sedan logbook on DRIVE2

buy. Volkswagen. 6RU Beeper. high horn vw polo sedan. 1 – 2 days….

Beeper connector pin seals, 2 pcs.

A horn was attached to the unit to increase the range of the horn. I compared the 8D0 connector and the OEM horn connector, it turns out they are not quite compatible. To protect the wiring, you can wrap duct tape around it.

Crimp the connector 8D0 and terminals type “mom”, do not forget that we have a two-tone snails, so on the side of the mothers make two connectors. The required length of wires between the connectors determine approximately by eye.

Replacement of regular horn Polo sedan

Terminal from the battery is not necessary to unhook, jack the front wheel from the driver’s side and remove the wheel, we see about this picture: Five of which noticed not immediately, they were under the car. Opens up great access to the regular horn, from which disconnect the connector and remove the alarm with a ratchet, a headset at 10 and cut bits M So it looks regular horn.

I compared the connector 8D0 and OEM horn socket, it turns out they are not exactly compatible. But it’s no problem, to make the connector fit properly screwdriver in the connector 8D0 partially break off inside the connector purple protruding parts, then on a lathe or file remove about 1 mm of the connector housing in its flat part.

Trying the connector on the car – I got it as native, look at the photo. Connector 8D0 up as native 5. Connect the terminals on both volutes, mount the volutes horns down into place and nothing hurt as well as in the photo below and connect the connector in place.

The wire between the volutes and the connector can be wrapped with duct tape or cloth tape for protection and aesthetics. I used fabric tape. Check the new horn and enjoy the new loud sound! Assemble the liner and put the wheel in place.

And finally I attached two video from the mirror for comparison of sounding of regular horn and Bosch Windtone, look, listen and make conclusions, good luck on the roads and be quiet: This is how the car horn sounds This is how the Bosch Windtone two-tone horn sounds Question: Most modern devices, used in cars, are based on the electromagnetic principle.

There is a contact relay on the electromagnet that causes the membrane to vibrate, generating sound waves. Technically, there is nothing wrong with it: Although in many situations, the klaxon is also used by drivers for its direct purpose, i.

Many owners also complain about the Volkswagen Polo sedan. What is the sedan Polo? The car has a single-tone factory horn and that says it all: Choice of horn For the klaxon to produce a good sound, it must be connected to a two-tone device with high and low noises.

Our foreign friends in Europe are also far from being outsiders in klaxon design. For example, a Bosch Windtone two-tone kit with the article number 0 AH0 On Exist the kit will cost from rub. Also need to stock up on a couple of pins N 05 and seals to them B in the same amount.

Replacing OEM horn

Many owners of VW Polo Sedan know how disgusting and quiet grunting sounds regular horn. In addition, the horn is set to the same tone. In short I decided to replace it with something more dignified. Of course I respect Volga signals, but I did not use them on VW, I chose Bosch Windtone two-tone signal set. Of course apart from the signal kit it was necessary to solve the connection problem. The most suitable mating connector “dad”, the same as the OEM signal was the connector with the article number 8D0 973 822. This connector is of course not fully compatible (I had to work with a file to get everything just right). In addition were bought four terminals type “mother”, the usual as in vaz and about half a meter of wire cross section of 1.5 mm 2.

From these connectors, I used a crimping tool and heat shrink made a neat adapter from the regular connector signal to Bosch. So, what was purchased: 1.Bosch Windtone Signal Set, 0 986 AH0 503 – 1206 rubles. 2.Terminal type “mother”, 4 pieces, regular car (see photo) – 20 rubles. 3.Connector for horn, 8D0 973 822 – 75 rubles. 4.Signal sound connector pins, 2 pcs, N 103 190 05 – 22 rubles. 5.Signal horn connector pins seals, 2 pcs., 357 972 741 B – 64 rubles 6.5 meters of wire with a cross section of 1.5 mm2 – did not buy (found in his stock). No relay for this buzzer does not need, because the VW Polo Sedan is already on the staff relay, which will work fine with the new sound signal.

I’m surprised myself how the seals can cost three times the price of pins, but that’s the Exist store policy, where all this was bought except for the terminals “mamok”, which were bought at a regular radio store. Tools and materials for installation: soldering iron or heat gun, heat shrinkable tube 10cm, crimping tool or plokobubtsy, wire cutters, screwdriver TORX T20, a jack, a ratchet with a head 10, 12-sided bit M10 (the same is used to remove the seat), electrical tape or cloth tape. So the replacement process: 1. Crimp the connector 8D0 973 822 and the terminal type “Mom”, do not forget that we have a two-tone snails, so the side of Mom make two connectors. The required length of wires between the connectors determine approximately by eye. 2. The terminal from the battery does not need to detach, jack the front wheel from the driver’s side and remove the wheel, we see about this picture:

3.With a screwdriver TORX T20 unscrew 16 (!) screws that connect underlip to the wing. Five of which I noticed not immediately, they were under the car. Remove underlip:
