T-Roc Cabriolet – the car of good cheer
This car is little known in the former Soviet Union, many are surprised to learn about the serial production of Volkswagen Cabriolets. However, it is quite understandable, even the base model, the T-Roc, is not officially represented in Russia, and there is no need to speak about its open version.
Given the climatic characteristics of much of Russia, the Germans are very skeptical about the prospects of growth in local demand for convertibles. Maybe in vain, the car turned out really beautiful, and the winter options package provided for this car, in theory, could provide comfort in the cold season.
Exterior/interior
For bad weather there is a folding electro-hydraulic top, which can shelter the crew for 9 seconds (and fold, if necessary, for 11) at speeds up to 30 km / h, among the options is a “winter package” that provides heated steering wheel, front seats, window washer jets, etc. As an option, there is a wind deflector, protecting the atmosphere of the cabin from excessive turbulence.
The sunset of the era of cabriolets began with the introduction of strict safety standards, which the open cars then could not overcome, because in the case of overturning the seat belted were pressed by several pounds, and even tons of metal, with dire consequences for health and sometimes life.
Later variants of the decision of this problem were found, one of which is used in an open T-Rock, the crew is protected by reinforced frame of windshield in front and in back – the arc of safety, located straight behind the rear seats, shot out with squibs by the command of automatics, which have recognized the threat of roll-over.
Nevertheless, a convertible is the car with a bias towards a fan-car, the automobile of cheerful mood. Therefore, VW paid more attention to the interior (though for an open-top car concepts of the interior and the exterior mix up a little).
The driver is met by a digital cockpit with a virtual (10,25″) dashboard, seats with a mass of adjustments, lumbar support, and, optionally, leather “Vienna” package. Multimedia systems are presented in 3 variants, from 6.5 to 8 inches, in addition to the usual functions, some are equipped with an access point and navigation functions with real-time connectivity.
The built-in SIM card and the We Connect system, available in Europe, allow you to control a number of car parameters remotely via a regular smartphone, in fact, always staying in touch with the car. For audiophiles and fans of loud music the BeatsAudio system with a total power of amplifiers 400 W is optionally available.
Reinforced front struts allowed you to place in them the speakers of a powerful audio system.
A significant disadvantage of convertibles with a roof-lift mechanism is a slight volume of the trunk, part of which is occupied by the roof in the folded position. The T-Rock is not the biggest car, and after placing of a roof there is only 284 liters of luggage space.
Chassis electronics
In this respect, the car is equipped quite decently, however, for the new models of Volkswagen it is already standard:
- system of emergency braking, including function of pedestrian detection;
- sensors of blind zones;
- ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control);
- parking assistant;
- anti-lock braking, traction control, stabilization (including for the trailer) systems.
Technical characteristics
The car in convertible version is not too different from the base model.
