New body review
Volkswagen Terramont 2020 continues to use the modular platform MQB, but due to the change of bodykit has added 75 mm in length. (up to 5,112 mm).
Teramont can have front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive chassis, and, in the second case, a special electronics activates the multi-disc clutch only when necessary: under normal conditions, all the traction is transferred only to the front wheels, while the clutch can instantly share the torque equally between the axles. Suspension of SUV is presented both in front and rear by coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers and transverse stabilizers, that is an independent structure.
The exterior of .
The main task of the specialists involved in the restyling of the Volkswagen Terramont 2020 was to bring the exterior of the car in line with the new corporate style.
Hence the enlarged grille, new optics, and more “plump” bumpers. Externally, the crossover has received more straight lines, and the austerity of the style is well emphasized by horizontal bars at the stern: chrome, stretching across the entire width of the body and passing under the headlights, and reflective on the bumper, disguised in themselves thin strips of rear running lights. Otherwise, it’s still the same Volkswagen Teramont 2020 with swollen wheel arches, a slightly drooping roof, roof rails and plastic surrounds around the perimeter of the new body.
Interior
Inside, the Atlas/Teramont has received the following “updates”: a new steering wheel with more elegant “spokes”, digital dashboard instead of analog scales and media complex with expanded functionality (the size of the central touchscreen remained the same – 8 inches in diameter in the base version and 12.3 inches in the “top” equipment. The central tunnel, air ducts, climate control panel, door cards, torpedo contours – all without changes, so inside Volkswagen Terramont 2020 continues to remain a typical representative of Volkswagen brand with simple straight lines, lack of design frills, but at the same time with a rather harmonious, attractive, strict and modern interior.
Technical stuffing
Restyled Volkswagen Teramont 2020 model year will be equipped with the same engines as before:
- The 2.0-liter TSI inline four-cylinder with 238 hp (350 Nm);
- The 3.6 liter VR6 inline six-cylinder with an output of 280 hp (361 Nm).
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The first unit accelerates the SUV faster: 8.6 seconds up to “hundred” against 8.9 seconds with the V6 engine. The top speed of both modifications is at 190 km/h.

Technical equipment
The 2020 Volkswagen Teramont, which reaches a length of 5030 mm, is based on the MQB modular platform, providing for a fully independent suspension. Together with the crossover comes permanent four-wheel drive, which includes a multi-disc clutch.
The German model is equipped as standard with a 2-liter turbocharged motor that produces up to 220 hp of useful power and 350 N*m of torque. Together with it, an eight-speed automatic transmission is installed on the crossover. With such technical equipment such a large Teramont is able to reach the first 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds, consuming about 9.4 liters of gasoline.
For a surcharge, buyers can get a 3.6-liter “atmospheric” engine. Its maximum power does not exceed 249 hp and torque – 360 N*m. In combination with the same automatic transmission crossover can gain the first 100 km / h in 8.9 seconds and consumes already 10.6 liters of fuel. Together with the top versions of the car is equipped with a similar engine, the maximum output of which has been increased to 280 horsepower at the same level of traction. The increase in power has almost no effect on fuel efficiency and acceleration dynamics of the VW Teramont.
Design
In terms of exterior design, the German model is characterized by a fairly simple execution. The Teramont is a functional car, designed to provide maximum comfort for passengers and the driver on long distances. That is why the crossover body has no pronounced cambers. But at the same time, the Teramont is equipped with rather original headlights with LED filling and a relatively large grille with two horizontal bars. Both bumpers of the German model are reinforced with metal protection.
The side of the body stands out due to the embossed wheel arches. At the back of the crossover there are large headlights with many LED elements. And on the door of the luggage compartment there are several protruding lines with a rather sharp edge.
The interior of the seven-seater Teramont is executed in premium style, providing plenty of expensive trim materials and decorative inserts made of wood. But the interior is also executed in a relatively simple style. But the Teramont interior is characterized by increased ergonomics, which provides a successful arrangement of control elements.
Start of sales
Due to the fact that the manufacturer only “refreshed” the VW Teramont, an updated version of the crossover by the time of writing has managed to appear on the Russian market, where it is delivered from Germany.
