Volkswagen Teramont wheels and tires: options
Despite the fact that the scheduled start of sales in the spring was postponed indefinitely, a certain interest in the Teramont remains, including the question of what tires and rims will be offered by Volkswagen to the Russian buyer.
In many respects such interest is caused by the reviews of the Teramont bought in previous years, from them there is a paradoxical situation: usually if the disk radius increases, it means the improvement of steerability.
But Tremont is not a brisk small-capacity car; the size will not allow it to “hustle” between lines all the same; from here filigree steerability is not especially demanded.
Owners do not put such problems before it. And here is the opposite side of big disks, the necessity of low-profile rubber application, for a possibility to meet the geometrical parameters of a wheel, leads to excessively detailed transfer of all possible asphalt defects to a body, which sometimes irritates the owners a lot.

These are the real problem. If you are not in a big city, you have very little chance to find winter tires of needed size. Even in the catalogs of huge Internet-stores such sizes are still to be found. Sometimes it is the other way round, when you have to pick up disks for the tires of similar size.
The DUNLOP Grandtrek Ice 02 got good references to the Teramont, though its size is “close”. As the owner notes, the car became noticeably softer and more comfortable, while the controllability has not decreased noticeably. Unfortunately, there are almost no reviews about usage of different winter tires, and it is impossible to compare rubber models.
In Europe, Volkswagen itself equips cars with summer tires, stressing that the winter ones are the owner’s responsibility. With this in mind, many thought that VW has removed itself from the winter problems, allowing the owners to decide on their own.
In fact, there is a catalog of recommended for winter tires, but it is designed for Europe and models are presented for the local climate (European type), and for the greater Russian Federation needs arctic (Scandinavian) type.
