VW Amarok 2017 FAQ – specifications, engines, transmissions
The VW Amarok 2017 continues the “robustness and reliability combined with innovative technology” concept created almost 6 years ago. The new design of the front body and front fascia emphasizes the energetic appearance of the Amarok and, together with the new ergonomic seats, brings it into a higher class. In the 2017 Volkswagen Amarok, the engine in this class is the 3.0L V6 TDI. The increased torque is transmitted through a beefed-up 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. The 2017 Amarok gets a new generation of head units, with or without a navigation system. Driver assistance and safety systems are added. New are, for example, the automatic emergency braking function and the tire pressure monitoring system.
The following are the new and most important design features of the 2017 Amarok. Variations are possible depending on the country of delivery. – 3.0 L V6 TDI engine with three power levels. – Tire pressure monitoring system. – Automatic braking function in case of an accident. – Extensive selection of accessories and accessories, such as sports and decorative safety bars or bars with additional high beam headlights. – A new generation of head units and navigation systems. – Selective catalytic converter SCR. – Disc brakes on front and rear wheels. – New line of body colors.

Advantages, disadvantages and problems of Volkswagen Amarok
The paint coating of the pickup is weak and sometimes the paint comes off in layers
However, the body itself is made of thick galvanized steel and perfectly resists corrosion
The interior is trimmed with quality materials and their wear resistance is not bad.
On forums they often complain about the creaks of the panel, and also the heater motor is not durable
The disadvantages include not the most durable air conditioner compressor and damper linkage
The 2.0-liter turbodiesels CNFA and CNFB have high durability, but there are some details
It is better to change timing belt every 80,000 km and do not forget about oil pump strap
It is important to follow the condition of cooler of EGR, otherwise the antifreeze will go and the cylinder head will crack.
The 2.0 liter bi-turbo diesels CDCA, CNEA and CSHA have a bad reputation in our country.
Besides low turbine life, they are notorious for high oil consumption, and their cylinder heads break more often.
Also don’t forget about the belt changes and unless CSHA has a chain driven oil pump
The 3.0-liter DDXC and DDXE diesels are very reliable and appreciated on the aftermarket.
The disadvantage is that the fuel system is more demanding on fuel quality
The ZF 6-speed ML390 transmission is quite reliable by itself.
But the clutch life is short and the dual-mass flywheel could start to knock by 200,000 km.
The 8-speed AL450 and AL550 also made by ZF and are as trouble-free.
The main thing is to grease up and check the condition of the plastic drip tray.
All-wheel drive systems with mcd and automatic are different but equally reliable.
At about 200,000 km run often change the suspension bearing of the driveshaft
The suspension in this model is durable and usually goes up to 100,000 km without repairs
The hub bearings are sometimes scolded on forums, some of them do not run at all
Also you can find many complaints of the cracked springs due to trivial overloading
The steering rack is pretty solid, but the power steering is not very durable.
The owners don’t have any special claims to the braking system of the pickup.
