PASSAT B6 engine oil choice
And again good day to all! Previously from the expanses of the internet was collected information for our favorite vw passat b6 1. on the quality of parts www.drive2.ru/l/496848964700602434/ 2. On the size of tires and wheels and original numbers www.drive2.ru/l/497165898927309063/ I did not stop there and picked up information on engine oils. This also includes not only information from the World Wide Web and manufacturer’s recommendations, but I am our reviews with you.The text will be a lot of so typed patience and read (who is interested of course).
Volkswagen introduced its tolerances in the mid-90’s. Since then, this classification system has become the starting point for choosing technically suitable products for all vehicles manufactured by the VW group (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda). Now in more detail. VW 502.00
Oil for gasoline engines. It is the successor of VW 501.01 and VW 500.00. Recommended for hard operating conditions. Must not be used for engines with variable oil change intervals or any with other tolerances. Motor oil for direct injection gasoline engines and higher power efficiency. The basic characteristics meet the requirements of ACEA class A3;
Long-life oil designed for gasoline engines of VW cars with WIV (system for extended oil change intervals). Meets ACEA A1, SAE 0W-30 or 5W-30 classifications. New standard for gasoline engines with extended service intervals (WIV: 30,000 km, 2 years, Longlife). Exceeds the requirements of 502 00 (HTHS 2.9 mPa/s). Note: Not approved for older vehicles due to lowered high-temperature viscosity that could cause engine damage.
Substitutes VW 503.00 and VW 503.01. VW 504.00 oils are suitable for engines that meet Euro-6 environmental standards. Car oils for gasoline and diesel engines with extended service intervals Longlife, including diesel engines with fine filters without additional additives in the fuel.
Approval for oils used in diesel engines for passenger cars and having a minimum CCMC class PD-2. It includes viscosities SAE 5W-50, 10W-50/60, 15W-40/50, 20W-40/50 that require 13% max evaporation losses and SAE 5W-30/40, 10W-30/40 that require 15% max evaporation losses. Oils for diesel engines of passenger cars with and without turbocharging. Basic characteristics meet the requirements of class ACEA B3. Note: must be tested for compatibility with elastomeric gaskets.
Special oil for VW turbo-diesel engines with pump-injector (Pumpe – Demse) and for turbo-diesel engines with accumulator fuel system (Commonrail). Conforms to ACEA B4 SAE 5W-40.
These oils are suitable for diesel engines with Longlife oil change intervals of up to 50,000 km / 2 years. Not intended for use in injection engines. The oil change interval is indicated on the electronic display. Viscosity SAE 0W30. Basic performance meets the requirements of class ACEA B4. Note: only suitable for engines produced since May 1999; not recommended for older vehicles due to low high viscosity which could cause engine damage.
These oils are designed specifically for engines with pump-jets (Pumpe-Düse) running at extended oil change intervals (30,000 – 50,000 km / 24 months). The oil change interval is displayed electronically. The basic characteristics meet the requirements of ACEA B4.
Oil with reduced ash content (Low SAPS), suitable for engines within the Euro-4 environmental standard and absolutely all VAG diesel engines after 2000 with extended oil change interval, fuel injection or pump-injector. Excluded are V10, R5 engines and commercial vehicles without DPF (diesel particulate filter) – for these you must use oil with the 506.01 tolerance. Longlife auto-oils, including diesel engines with fine filters without additional additives in the fuel. Alternatively 505.00 or 505.01
The approval has not yet been made. It will probably refer to oils with reduced ash content (Low SAPS) and energy saving characteristics. These are all VW recommendations! But at the market nowadays there is a great choice of oils! So what to pour! Thanks to our experience in sharing with you different oils, as well as several other forums in which I participate, I have made a small rating of motor oils. It is not possible to choose for a particular engine oil-Favorite. Everyone buys oil according to their pocket, and taste. This post does not force anyone to anything and is purely informative. Thank you all, good luck on the roads.
